1. Center for European and American Literature Research Based on Xi'an International Studies University (XISU), the "Center European and American Literature Research" is one of the first key research bases (at university level) for philosophy and social sciences in Shaanxi, as approved by Department of Education of Shaanxi Provincial Government in 2005. It was formerly known as "Center for European and American Language and Literature Research" and officially established in June, 2007, and later changed to current name in October, 2010. Currently, the President of XISU, Professor Wang Junzhe serves as the Director of the Center. The Center consists of Institute of Anglo-American Literatures, Institute of European Literatures, and Institute of Comparative Literatures, etc. that are committed to the studies on above-mentioned literatures. 2.Center for Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics Research Based on Xi'an International Studies University (XISU), the "Center for Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics Research" is one of the key research bases (at university level) for philosophy and social sciences in Shaanxi, as approved by the Department of Education of Shaanxi Provincial Government in 2009. It was officially established in December, 2012. The Vice President of XISU, Professor Dang Zhengsheng serves as the Director of the Center. The Center has several institutes for both theoretical and applied linguistics, intercultural communication, and translation, etc., which is committed to fundamental research in linguistics. The Center is also the largest resource hub for foreign linguistics and applied linguistics in northwestern China. 3. Institute of Shaanxi Tourism Research The "Institute of Shaanxi Tourism Research" was co-founded by Shaanxi Tourist Administration and XISU on October 18, 2013, in order to unite major universities, administrators and enterprises for tourism in Shaanxi to provide theoretical guidance and intellectual support for the sustainable development of tourism in Shaanxi. Institute of Shaanxi Tourism Research has focused on research about hot topics and major issues of tourism industry in Shaanxi, and has strived to build a new "four-in-one"research center that includes Platform for Tourism Research, Center for Tourism Policy Research, Advisory Board for Tourism Industry, and Data and Information Center for Tourism Industry in Western China. The Institute has become one of the observers of the Institute of Chinese Tourism Research, under the National Tourism Administration. The Institute now has 25 professional researchers, including 8 professors, 8 associate professors, 13 doctors, and an advisory committee form by nationally and internationally renowned experts. The Institute consists of the XISU Center for Recreation and Tourism Research in Xi'an, the Counseling Center for Economic Development of Western Tourism, the Center for Tourism and Culture Research, the R&D Center for Tourism Commodities, etc. For nearly three years since its establishment, the Institute has undertaken more than 13 provincial and ministerial tourism research projects and over 20 corporative projects, and published 6 monographs and more than 100 papers and won 4 awards at all levels. All have been fully recognized by the local government and industry administrator. Some of the projects conducted by the Institute include "Survey on Shaanxi Tourism Environment", "Tourism Promotion Under New Trend", "The Measurement for Eliminating the Cycle of Ticket Economy in Shaanxi Tourism" and so on. The Institute has actively participated in the research supervised by the Shaanxi Tourist Administration, such as "tourism products for Silk Road" and "flavored cuisines for Shaanxi tourism", etc. This has made the Institute an important role to promote tourism research and industry in Shaanxi Province.
